Thank you Lucia for sharing your pine cone with us

This week Lucia shared her learning about pine cones with us. She inspired us to do some research and observational drawings. Thank you Lucia. We learnt so much. We loved the video of a female pine cone releasing its seeds in slow motion!

Thank you Lucia for sharing your pine cone with us. We became
scientists and started to question how seeds are released. We found
out that pine cones open up when it is hot and dry and close again
when it is cold and damp. We are conducting an experiment in our
classroom. Watch to see what happens.

We also learnt that there are male and female pine cones but that it
is only the females that release seeds.
